The fashion world descends on the Slovenian capital

6th#MBFWLJ represents emerging regional brands alongside established international designers, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Ljubljana will take place on May 10−12, 2018

The three day May edition of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Ljubljana will connect more than twenty domestic and foreign fashion designers. The first day in three of runway shows will feature ready-to-wear collections from leading regional multi-brand store XYZ fashion store accompanied by a first reveal of the new Mercedes Benz A-class. Second day will start with a spotlight on the young talents and finish off with runway thrills of renowned Slovene designers. The grand finale will feature foreign fashion projects and fashion trailblazers who are shaking up the system and bringing up new perspective in the collections on fashion and it’s impact on the environment. The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Ljubljana, who is part of the international chain of the MBFW Fashion Weeks, enables young talents to get in touch with wider audience and facilitates growth of established brands through business and retail connections at home and abroad. The 6th edition will gather twenty-one fashion shows and the largest number of home and foreign fashion designers ever.

May 11: Young talents and established Slovene designers

Emerging talent is ready to take the throne. Designers such as Sari Valenci (MBFA 2015 recipient), Julia Kaja Hrovat (MBFA 2016 recipient), Cilka Sadar (special recognition of MBFA jury 2017), Tjaša Zalar (MBFA 2017 recipient) and Janja Videc (Elle Style Awards 2016 nominee), all recipients of international awards, that are overcoming established fashion stereotypes and incorporating various fresh approaches in their fashion collections will be revealing their work exclusively on the second evening. Friday's fashion repertoire will be strengthened by Draž dual, who have proven for decades that the knitted dress is suitable for all life situations. Tanja Zorn connecting tradition with innovation, originality with wearability and passion for design with love for aesthetics for more than 20 years will take the runway of Friday as weel. The evening will be crowned by women who showcased their work at the New York Fashion Week - Jelena Pirkmajer with brand Cliché and Nina Šušnjara with Paradox collection, in which she explores the future in the present.

May 12: Emphasis on foreign designers and fashion trailblazers

Coming from Serbia, Milica Vukadinović and Marko Glavinić will present their brands in recognizable designer styles with a collection of men's clothing. Sonja Jocic follows with a fashion story Alarm, designed for unconventional women wishing to outstand in society and influence it directly. The Berlin-based brand IVANMAN, known for combining elaborate men’s wear and sportswear to a new style, will be challenging conventional gender stereotypes in an ironic mannes in his autumn/winter collection. Croatian design will be represented by Ksenija Vrbanić and her brand XD Xenia Design available in more than 350 stores around the world. At the closing evening five more Slovenian designers will take on the runway. NELIZABETA, who combines skills of artisanal masters using modern technologies, Dajana Ljubičić with women's silhouettes in her 10 days a week collection, Mija Curk with her brand Sofia Nogard and Alenka Globočnik, that found inspiration for for her new Akultura collection in military style. 6th MBFWLJ will be concluded by Mateja Benedetti with two different collections that put the safety of the planet, animals, and people first. With this, they remain loyal to the values ​​of an ethical and sustainable brand, closely linked to the concept of beauty, luxury and innovative sustainable fabrics.

Reveal of the new A-class

The first day of Slovenian international fashion week will kick off with an exclusive reveal of the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class. The fourth generation is here. Not only have its dimensions increased, but it also comes closer to what the bigger, more expensive or more luxurious Mercedes vehicles have to offer. It is a design evolution, therefore its key highlights can be found in the new platform: a new chapter in introducing artificial intelligence into cars.
