Fashion News:

Haute Couture at the Lace Museum and the Calais Museum

At the Cité de la Dentelle et de la Mode in Calais there is a new exhibition, "Haute Dentelle," dedicated to high-quality lace and its use in today's haute couture. For the occasion, Chanel has lent 11 ensembles illustrating the exceptional savoir-faire of the Maison and its Métiers d'art. Among these, an ensemble from the Spring-Summer 2015 Haute Couture collection, photographed by Karl Lagerfeld, was chosen for the exhibition's poster.

Lace was among the favorite materials for Gabrielle Chanel's evening dresses. In an article of 1939, Chanel supports the use of lace, which he considers as "one of the most beautiful imitations of the whims of nature. (...) I think that tulle and lace always give charm, grace and nobility to feminine elegance ". Thanks to Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel perpetuates the French savoir-faire of lace and renews it through its collections.

The exhibition p is scheduled until next January 6, 2019.
