How the psyche is influenced by geometry and color

Alexandra is an interior architect, designer, artist and entrepreneur. Her life is like her work, always evolving and continuously adding a new art. Alexandra holds a Masters in Interior Architecture and Design from Salamanca University, Spain. Born in Argentina, she moved to Washington, D.C., U.S.A in 2002, where she studied art at Glen Echo and Corcoran School of Art. She participated in many art exhibitions locally and abroad, and her work is part of private collections in U.S., Spain, Argentina, Andorra, Germany, Uruguay. Also, one of her paintings hangs in a White House office.

“My paintings are like life itself, full of texture, light, shadows, scratches and asymmetries, never perfect but always passionate. I like when my work reflects the passage of time, the patina we collect throughout life. And I also like it when it is bold and bright, signaling the beginning of something exciting.
I use all sorts of different materials: oils, paint, wax, crayons, wood, paper, and many more. Experimenting with different materials allows me to explore without feeling imprisoned by a specific medium or a technique.
Most of my work is abstract and untitled because emotions cannot be condensed into a single image or word. I think this gives the observer more freedom to feel, reminisce, and react to the work. If my paintings evoke primordial feelings within people and connects with them, then I will have completed my job.”

"As an Interior Architect and Designer, I have always been captivated by the powerful impact that the ambience we inhabit can have in our daily lives. Color is a powerful tool that can be used to signal action, increase performance, influence mood, feelings and behaviors, and even to create several physiological reactions. Shapes also play an important role on our psyche. Geometric or organic, they can indicate structure, balance, strength, creativity and/or community. My ultimately goal is to help people sense the space around them, and in a subtle way, make them feel complete and ultimately, happy. I seek to understand people's needs and desires to create simple, yet warm environments where people feel an urge to return and share it with others to create, and recreate their favorites memories." Alexandra is the founder of Azalea Properties and Originale art+design. For more than 15 years, Alexandra and her team have built, renovated and decorated several properties in the Washington, D.C. area and Miami, FL.
